2-factor authentication
To ensure the security of your Cmd account, it is highly recommended that you enable 2-factor authentication. This setup is required if your system is configured to prompt for 2-factor authentication when performing specific tasks.
After you setup 2-factor authentication, each time you log into the Cmd web interface you will be prompted to provide an authentication code. If you enable all 2-factor authentication options, you can choose which code to submit. For more information, see Logging in and out.
To enable 2-factor authentication, complete the following steps:
- Access the My accountpage.
- From the left menu pane, click 2-factor authentication.
If you do not see the left menu pane, swipe to the left browser edge to show the menu.
- On the following page, you can enable any or all of the available 2-factor authentication settings.
Google authenticator
- Download and install the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device:
- Open the app on your mobile device.
- In the Cmd web interface, click Google authenticator to expand the option.

- In the Step 1 area, scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app.
- In the Step 2 area, enter the cmd code that is generated in the app.

- If you are prompted, enter your password then click Verify.
SMS authentication
- On the 2-factor authentication page, click SMS authentication to expand the option.

- In the Country code field, enter your country calling code. If you're in North America, enter 1.
- In the Phone number field, enter your area code and phone number.
- Click Send code.
You will receive a text message with the authentication code. This may take a few minutes.
- In the Step 2 area, enter the code you receive.
- Click Enable.
- If you are prompted, enter your password then click Verify.
One-time backup codes
In the event you are unable to use the Google Authenticator app or receive SMS messages, you can generate a set of backup codes that can be used to give you access to the Cmd system.
NOTE: You can only use each code once, and each time you generate a new set of backup codes, the previously generated codes become invalid.
- On the 2-factor authentication page, click One-time authentication codes to expand the option.
- Click Re-generate codes.
- When you are prompted, enter your login password then click Verify.
A list of 10 back up codes is generated.

- Click Print to print a copy of the generated codes.
Editing or disabling 2-factor authentication
If you replace your mobile device or phone number, you will need to disable 2-factor authentication then re-enable it from your new device.
Tip: Do not discard your old mobile device until after you've changed the configuration, or you will not be able to login again. Alternatively, always have a set of backup codes available.
To disable an existing 2-factor authentication configuration, complete the following steps:
- On the 2-factor authentication page, click the enabled feature.
- In the following dialog, confirm that you want to disable the 2-factor authentication option.
- If you are prompted, enter your password then click Verify.
- Re-enable the 2-factor authentication option with your new mobile device or phone number.
