Project settings

Enable this setting to allow triggers to be used in the system. When prompted, complete the confirmation dialog.

For more information about triggers, see Reviewing triggers.

NOTE: If disabled, the Triggers page and Alerts page are no longer available.

• User entered commands only — enable this setting to limit triggers conditions to support user entered commands only.
• Notification triggers only — enable this setting to only support notification (risk level 0) triggers.

  When this setting is enabled, server related trigger actions are not supported. For more information, see Trigger actions.

Enable these settings to allow the Cmd client on the server to capture command output and file differences.

• Capture output — enable this setting to allow Cmd to capture all server output. When prompted, complete the confirmation dialog.
  • Errors only — enable this setting to limit the captured output to errors only.
• Capture file differences — enable this setting to capture file changes on the server.

  Tip: You may want to disable this feature if your servers handle credit card information to help maintain the privacy of users.

• Capture user entered commands only — Enable this setting to only capture commands that are typed by a user.

• Degrade mode — enable this setting for the server to use Degrade mode when it cannot communicate with the Cmd collector.

  When the amount of memory allocated for fallback information is reached, Degrade mode will begin to remove data in the following order: first output data, then non-basic command data, and then non-user entered commands.

  If this setting is disabled, no data is collected when the server is offline.

• Number of bytes of memory to store fallback information — Enter the maximum amount of memory (in bytes) on the server that is allocated to store collected data during Degrade mode.

Enable this setting to allow Cmd to collect anonymous data.

Allow the system to automatically sanitized passwords and specific types of data. Sanitized content is redacted and no longer visible to anyone.

• Scrub passwords — enable this setting to automatically sanitize passwords that have been captured by the system.

  When enabled, you can choose to scrub passwords on the client, collector, or both. The client is the server you added to Cmd through the web interface. The collector is a Cmd server that is dedicated to gathering data from the client. You can also choose to scrub passwords on specific servers in your system. Leave the field blank to scrub passwords from all servers.

• Custom patterns — click Add custom pattern to define specific commands that should be automatically scrubbed from the system.

  

  1. In the following dialog, enter the Cmd root, the Pattern, and select where you want the pattern to be automatically scrubbed on.

     After you enter each value, the dialog updates to tell you how frequently the pattern appeared in the system over the past week.

  2. In the Server groups field, enter any specific server groups that the pattern should be scrubbed on, or leave the field blank to scrub on all servers.
  3. Click Save.

  The new pattern is added to the list and automatically executed each time the pattern is detected.

Enable this setting to allow the system to remember that 2-factor authentication was accepted from the last transaction time.

When enabled, the user can perform any number of tasks within the set time limit before being asked to authenticate again.

Enable this setting to summarize email notifications sent to trigger subscribers.

Users can choose to subscribe to triggers so that they are notified whenever the trigger is activated. This setting allows the system to summarize and group notifications together.

When enabled, you can set the time interval between email notifications.
